Major Brown was only a year old when his parents moved from St Thomas to Old Harbour, getting his early education at Old Harbour Primary before matriculating to Calabar High where he became the head boy.
Brown’s relatives still reside in Old Harbour, including his 92 year-old mother Mercedes Brown, who is an active member at the Old Harbour Baptist Church.

The retired army veteran was among 215 individuals formally recognized at the marquee event commemorating National Heroes Day.
He has been recognised for his sterling contribution to the development of the country through transportation and sport.
Major Brown is the current general manager of Independence Park Limited (IPL), the state agency with responsibility for managing the entire complex encompassing the National Stadium, the National Aquatic Centre, the National Arena and the National Indoor Sport Centre, in addition to the Trelawny Multipurpose Stadium.
As an engineer consultant, Major Brown was recruited by the government in 1996 to lead the then Metropolitan Management Transport Holding Limited mandated to oversee the formation and introduction of the Jamaica Urban Transit Company Limited (JUTC), the government-run public transportation company.
