Russell, Powell included in West Indies T20 squad for England and Ireland series

Andre Russell (right) and Rovman Powell forms part of a formidable team that will face England and Ireland in June.
Russell, making his return after recovering from an injury sustained during last year’s England series, has been selected for the England leg, while Powell retains his place as a vital power-hitter in the lineup. The duo’s inclusion adds firepower to a dynamic squad led by newly appointed T20 captain Shai Hope.
The series also marks the return of Jason Holder, who last played T20Is for the West Indies in February 2024. However, explosive batsman Nicholas Pooran has opted out of both series following an extended Indian Premier League (IPL) stint.
Test captain Roston Chase will depart after the England matches to join the red-ball camp ahead of the crucial Test series against Australia. His absence paves the way for Jyd Goolie, a standout in the West Indies Breakout League and a former U19 World Cup player, to earn his maiden senior call-up. Meanwhile, in-form batter Keacy Carty replaces Brandon King, who has been granted leave for the Ireland leg.
Head coach Daren Sammy and his assistants will also transition to Test duties after the England series, with Rayon Griffith taking charge as lead coach for the Ireland matches, supported by Donovan Miller.
The upcoming fixtures mark an important phase for West Indies cricket as the team builds momentum across formats, with the T20 squad blending experience and emerging talent.
