Seresa Thomas perfect in PEP despite challenging circumstance
Despite this constant travelling, the Old Harbour Primary top performer managed to cap an extraordinary feat on her recent Primary Exit Profile (PEP) examination, recording a perfect score of 100% on the Ability Task paper to guarantee her spot at the prestigious St Hilda’s High School. Her remarkable success not just made her parents proud but the whole family ecstatic.
“The exam was easy but it was also challenging," she told Old Harbour News recently in an interview. “I adjust easily to online classes and studying at home. I love to read books and reading keeps me focus and active for exams."
Achieving such an unblemished mark was an idea Thomas admittedly toyed with in her mind, but never thought such a day would ever come.
"I felt really great about getting a perfect score on my PEP exam it's like a dream come true,” she said.
Because of her unsettling environment, Thomas encountered challenges along the journey. This saw her attending two primary schools because of her constant moving between both parents, however, her time at the Old Harbour Primary is one she would never forget, she said.
"My time and experience at the Old Harbour Primary was spectacular," she stated while describing the wonderful experience she shared with teachers and her fellow schoolmates.
Seresa's father, Nicholas Thomas told Old Harbour News, he is very happy about his daughter's success, revealing that she displays excellent work ethics towards her education and is much disciplined.
He says "I just gave her proper guidance”.
“Even though we are in a pandemic it did not affect her because I helped to ensure that she was okay and she had everything that she needed for school. When it comes to my daughter I go the extra mile,” he added.
Regarding the decision in choosing St Hilda’s High, a top-ranked all-girl secondary institution based in Brown’s Town, St Ann, and some two hour’s drive from Old Harbour, Mr Thomas gave this explanation.
"St Hilda’s High School was chosen because I travel and the school is closer to her mother whom she stays with when I'm outside of the country" said the Old Harbour Bay resident.
“I know high school is a big step for her and I expect her to do a wonderful job. As a parent I couldn't have been prouder."
