Spring Village man among hijackers in daring armed robbery charged
Twenty-eight-year-old Gilbert, a production worker; along with Sanjay ‘Rufus’ Shaw, a 29-year-old electrician of Eltham Acres, Spanish Town; Ari ‘Torn’ Vassell a 36-year-old farmer of Cumberland district, Clarendon; and 30-year-old Omar Sutherland otherwise called ‘Screw Ben’, a mason of Musgothy Lane, Spanish Town in St. Catherine, have all been charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition, robbery with aggravation and car stealing.
According to the Spanish Town police just after midnight on November 4 along Featherbed Lane the accused men were travelling in a grey Nissan Tiida motor car, which they used to block the pathway of another motorist.
Two of the accused men, one armed with a handgun, then reportedly exited and robbed the complainant of his Nissan Note motor car before speeding away.
The brazen thieves however didn’t manage to get far as within three hours of the victim filing a report the accused men were intercepted by the police in Old Harbour.
The Nissan Tiida was seized and the Nissan Note recovered, while all four men were arrested and charged following an interview.
Their court date is being finalised.
