Its desire was to chase not to catch. This sometimes is a description of us in the act of worship - we're just dutifully chasing and even coming near to God (and believe you me, IT'S AWESOME JUST TO BE NEAR HIM). But God wants us to catch up with Him. He allows worshipful "contact". He wants us to experience Him. The sheep (plural) all want to be touching the shepherd. But there is just so much of him to lean on but what the shepherd does is to reach his staff out and a sheep that couldn't get a "front row" would lean on the extended staff. God however is big enough for us all to get in on the front row. The sad thing is many are just happy with third, fourth or even back row. Now I am not talking about where we sit in church, but how close we go in worship. Is God saddened by my empty front row seat? Through the Son our hands and hearts are cleansed, so let us be filled with the Spirit and go and meet the Father. He was the One who issued the invitation, so let us go up!
Psalm 95:6: O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our Maker. (See also Psa. 24:3-4; Heb.4:16).
Have a worshipping Wednesday and every day after that!
