As a parent, I used to try my very best to deliver on every promise that I would make to my kids. I really tried. But I have seen human limitations caused me to come short on some occasions. Abram was given some heavy promises by God. These promises caused him to leave his country and go to a place that he did not know, raise children that he and his wife could not have, all at the orders of a God that he could not see. Maybe others were crying or laughing as he left town, but Abram believed. He believed it because GOD SAID SO. There is something that is so rich and liberating in just believing and waiting on God. I want to encourage us to spend a lot of time in the word of God. It causes us to first hear what God said and then we'll have the opportunity to believe Him and wait on Him. His promises are so true, and although they may not run according to our time table, they will all come through right on time. Many times the promises of God are not for the right now. This is because part of God's programme is to mold us by causing us to wait. This is to shape our faith in a way that will honour Him and bless us.
Wait on the Lord! Not only is it a good thing, but it's also a God-designed thing.
