GENESIS 28:11-22. Genesis 28:20-21 said: “And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and raiment to put on, So that I come again to my father's house in peace; then shall the LORD be my God…”

Never try to work for God until you've first come to know God. This was the reason why Jacob was such a poor life-wrestler. God was only the God of Abraham and Isaac, but not yet, of Jacob. As Jacob came to know life's greatest Coach and Co-fighter, he will be trained and helped by the Lord to become an overcomer, in spite of whom his opponents will be.

We too would do well to know the Lord, who is at the top of that ladder on which angels were ascending and descending. He wants to be our life's Coach and Co-fighter. As our Coach, God will teach us, and as our Co-fighter, He will jump in that ring and defend us from anyone. We will never find a better Coach, or Co-fighter than God, yet so many people look elsewhere. Without God in our life, we will continue to lose, even when we think that we are winning. With God in our life we will win, even when we think that we are losing.
