Old Harbour businesswoman on fraud rap
The jewellery store operator in Old Harbour was taken into custody by detectives following an investigation arising from a complainant.
Allegations are that in November 2014, Munroe took on credit from an elderly businesswoman operating in said trade a wide range of jewellery amounting to just over $890,000 in value.
The complainant further alleges that six years and seven months later Munroe is yet to make any payment as promised. It is understood that the matter had been brought before the court as a civil case in the past but did not reach the point of a resolution due to several procedural issues related to matters of law.
She was granted station bail on Friday shortly after her arrest.
When contacted by Old Harbour News, lead investigator Detective Constable Cherrick Dorah confirmed that Munroe was arrested on Friday but refused commenting further on the matter.
Munroe, 59, is scheduled to appear in the St Catherine Parish Court on September 10 to answer to the charge.
