The country’s regional health agency for the southern region has earmarked for fogging several communities in the Old Harbour area for this month.

In its latest fogging schedule for the parish of St Catherine, the South East Regional Health Authority (SERHA) listed surrounding communities in Spanish Town and Portmore for ultra-low volume (ULV) and swingfog fogging.

Many communities in Kingston and St Andrew as well as districts in St Thomas have also been listed for fogging by the SERHA.

Beginning September 9 New Harbour Village II, a community of approximately 5,000 inhabitants, is scheduled for fogging. The district of Bartons and the Claremont Heights Housing Scheme have been designated for spraying with the mosquito smoke repellent on September 10.

The Old Harbour town centre, including the market, is listed for fogging on September 12.

Wellside Lane, Sharper Lane, Marlie Mount and Old Harbour Villa should experience fogging operations on September 23, while a fogging team will visit the Succaba Gardens/Marlie Acres enclaves on September 30.

There has been a reported increase in mosquito population in the last few weeks caused by the recent rains.

The SERHA noted that the schedule can change without notice due to extenuating circumstances such as adverse weather conditions and epidemiological suspicion or confirmed cases of mosquito borne disease.
