Motorists are now able to pay traffic ticket fines the Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) has announced.

In a release the tax authority said: “Tax Administration Jamaica (TAJ) wishes to advise taxpayers that it has resumed the collection of payments for traffic ticket fines online or at any of the tax offices across the island.”

However, the TAJ added: “Please note that only traffic tickets issued within the last 21 days and presented for payment can be receipted by TAJ.”

In the last few weeks the TAJ was unable to accept payments for traffic fines due to “unavoidable” disruptions to its internal system. This, the TAJ said, was as a result of the finalized list of traffic offence codes not yet being provided to the revenue authority.

“Tax Administration Jamaica takes this opportunity to apologise to the public for the inconvenience and dislocation caused by the suspension of this service,” said the state agency.
