JPS announces 8-hour power outage for SW St Catherine
In an advisory from the Jamaica Public Service (JPS), areas such as Old Harbour Bay, , Old Harbour town, Bushy Park, Church Pen, New Harbour Village I, II, III, IV and McCook Pen will experience a disruption in their service.
This, the light and power company stated, is as a result of planned maintenance works to be conducted between the hours of 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.
While the JPS apologize for the inconvenience, residents should take extra care to make the necessary adjustments in their planning to lessen the impact of the outage.

Some useful tips during this period is to stock up in advance on essential items such as water, food, toiletries and first aid supplies and medications and recharge portable power banks. Another good way to lessen the impact of the outage is to perform household chores early, such as washing, cooking, cleaning and ironing.
And with the Disaster Risk Management Act (DRMA) no longer in effect, it’s the perfect time to go to the beach or river while the power is out at home.
