An internal electrical issue is said to be the main cause behind the disruption in service at the National Water Commission (NWC) Marlie Mount facility.

Residents serve by this pump have been without water since 10 o’clock last night, which is part of its nightly lock-off conservation programme.

The automated system is however, programmed to switch on at 4:00 am the next day. But this morning this wasn’t the case, inconveniencing thousands served by the system.

An NWC representative has since advised Old Harbour News that suspension of service at the facility is due to “an internal issue” problem and that “our maintenance teams are on site making an assessment”.

A timeline for the restoration of service could not be given as the crew was in the process of making that determination at the time of publishing.

Areas affected are: Marlie Mount, Old Harbour Villa, Church Pen, and parts of Old Harbour.
