WATCH: Old Harbour’s DJ Gallas crowned king selector
At an event titled Homage hosted by businessman and entertainment promoter David ‘Bernie Mac’ Bernard, DJ Gallas was formally recognised for his body of work spanning two decades.
Inside a transformed parking lot at Evans Plaza, Marlie Mount to fit the occasion, party-goers gave their full approval to a selector who has risen to be among the creme de la creme in Jamaica.
While Bernard made notable mentions of other local selectors, he believes on current form, consistency and longevity, DJ Gallas sits at the pinnacle in his own at the very least.
It’s a view not many will disagree with, the rapturous acclamation from those present self-evident.
From his early days selling bootleg CDs in Old Harbour town to earn a living, DJ Gallas, has certainly earned his keep.
And to be recognised in such high regard generated a whirlwind of emotions within the aced selector born at birth, Damion Thomas.
The 40-year-old expressed gratitude to Bernie Mac and his adoring supporters before using the occasion to call for peace in light of recent gun violence across communities in the Old Harbour area.
