Strategic leadership breakfast to address crisis in our nation
The event will address issues such as the future of our youth and children, the present and future generations being threatened, morals, values, and attitudes, and honour and respect being forgotten virtues, among others.
The event is organised by Bishop Dr. Shirley Ann Chong, visionary and president of Sons of the Father Men’s Movement, and One Body Prayer Movement Global in collaboration with the National Intercessory Prayer Network of Jamaica (NIPNOJ) and the Prayer Centre of the Caribbean (P.C.O.C.).
Sharing on the purpose of the event, Bishop Chong said fathers should be heads of the family, an institution that is pivotal to nation building, and for them to become responsible, participatory, and justice-oriented citizens, who will maximise their potential and fulfill their God-given purpose.
"But not excluding the women, because men and women must work together for the growth, development, and restoration of the family," she said. She also said that the strategic leadership breakfast will bring together skills, resources, and a wide range of influence to help the people, the church, and the nation spiritually and give them spiritual direction.
Bishop Chong explained that our nation's most valuable asset is our human capital, and as such, the Sons of the Father mentorship training programme, which is endorsed by the Ministry of Education, will be promoted and activated to take effect immediately.
Expounding on the event, she also said the focus would be on training and development, deployment, information exchange, resource allocation, and strategic planning, as well as the enforcement of kingdom initiatives and strategies.
There will also be people from the Umbrella Group of Churches, different fraternal groups from all over the island, and national prayer ministries, as well as business and community leaders.
Throughout the day, attendees will be empowered through various presentations and discussions, which include "Rescue, Restore, and Reposition Our Men, Elders at the Gate/Gate Keepers, Positioning the Youth and Children - Preserving Generations, among other topics.
Those attending will also receive free books from Messengers International out of the United States, their main partner and donor. These books will be used as leadership resources in churches and other organisations.
Sharing strategies, Bishop Chong, acknowledging that the nation is in a crisis where men as leaders and our young men are concerned, said the quest is to mobilise, unite, encourage, empower, equip, and position our men as fathers and elders to rescue and restore the young men and youth and older women to teach the younger ones. She said other programmes are in the pipeline and will roll out gradually.
As the days count down to the big event, Bishop Chong said she has been receiving some positive responses from invitees, with some applauding the timeliness of the event.
Bishop Chong said, when asked about the decision to go after church leaders, that the church has a big part to play in changing, restoring, and reforming our country.
"The church is the catalyst for change and must be strategically and relevantly positioned. The institutions of the church, the family, and the schools must work together to produce a wholesome society," she noted.
