Kevin 'Tubby' Davis

The identity of an alleged goat thief who was attacked and killed by a mob in the Old Harbour community of Burke Road has been revealed.

Information reaching Old Harbour News is that the deceased is 44-year-old Kevin Davis, otherwise called ‘Tubby’, a resident of Bodles, Old Harbour.

But the police are yet to confirm the identity formally.

According to the police the now deceased was attacked by residents, who alleged that he was spotted trying to steal goats from a yard.

About 2:20 pm on Saturday, police were summoned to the area where Brown’s body was seen lying in a pool of blood.

He had a chopped wound to the head, while a machete and a large stone were observed beside the body.

Lawmen have informed Old Harbour News that the Brown has been on their radar for some time now and has been listed as a person of interest in relation to several crimes related to praedial larceny and gun running within Old Harbour and Clarendon.

He has spent time in custody based on these allegations but was never charged due to lack of evidence, stated one officer familiar with the deceased.

In an update, family members of the deceased contacted Old Harbour News refuting the claims made by the police, arguing that he was never detained on suspicion of praedial larceny or gun running.

They were against speaking on the record, but noted that the deceased only spent time in custody few years ago after being involved in a stabbing incident in Clarendon.

Editor's note: In our first report on this story we reported that the deceased name is Kevin Brown. However, this is incorrect. His correct name is Kevin Davis. We regret this error.
