A recent fatal shooting in broad daylight in Old Harbour has been linked to a gang feud in Montego Bay, St James.

On August 18, three people were shot, one fatally by an off-duty cop, foiling murder in the process.

The deceased gunman has been identified as 21-year-old Shemar Clarke of Glendevon in the second city, who the police said is a member of the 50/51 gang. A 9mm Glock pistol with two magazines and 12 9mm rounds was taken off Clarke.

Ongoing investigation into the deadly shooting has unearthed new information, with the police informing Old Harbour News that the daring daylight gun attack emanated out of St James.

It is understood that Clarke came to Old Harbour after receiving information that 23-year-old Dwayne ‘Twele’ Minto, who has been listed by the police as a top tier gang member and violence producer in St James, was residing in the southwest St Catherine community.

Minto, it is also said, is an upcoming recording artiste and was the target of the brazen gun attack on West Street.

The DJ was a passenger in a car when he was attacked by Clarke. The driver of the car was injured during the attack, but according to the police, is an innocent operator who was using his vehicle as a taxi to earn his bread.

All three were rushed to the hospital where Clarke died while undergoing treatment.

However, Minto remained hospitalized in serious but stable condition, while the driver of the vehicle was treated and released.

On the day of the attack Clarke rode into Old Harbour on a motorbike as a pillion, the police stated, but the rider sped off after witnessing what happened. Several leads are still being pursued to capture Clarke’s accomplice.

The new development has clarified earlier reports published by Old Harbour News which stated, based on information received at the time, that both the gunman and his crony were shot.

Minto, the police noted, is also from the community of Glendevon, St James but came to Old Harbour where his mother resides as based on his bail application he must not be seen in Montego Bay.

He has been reporting at the Old Harbour Police on condition of bail relation to a 2021 murder of a man in Montego Bay.

It was Minto’s mother who was seen on an amateur video wailing over a pool of blood at the spot where the injured Clarke was lying down in the road.

At that moment, the police explained that the mother had thought that Minto was dead based on information swirling around at the time.
