5-y-o Church Pen boy dies
The incident occurred sometime after two o’clock this afternoon at the back of a yard in the community.
The deceased child has been identified as Jeremiah Graham.
It is understood that the little boy was at the back of the house when he fell into a trench and onto an electrical cord illegally connected the national power grid.
He was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead by a doctor on staff.
When contacted, the Old Harbour police say they could not confirm the incident as no formal report was lodged at the time of publishing.
The toddler, it is said, lives with his parents in the neighbouring community of Gordon Wood, and customarily spends much of his time with relatives at the Church Pen Housing Scheme as both his mom and dad are gainfully employed.
For the most part his dad would take the child to his aunt’s home in the mornings, it is said, while his mother would receive him on her way from work in the evenings.
But now their bundle of joy has been transformed into a period of grief that is unlikely to end any time soon.
In an update, the police say relatives of the deceased child had made a formal report to the station as a case of sudden death, albeit hours after he was pronounced dead at hospital.
There was no mention of possible electrocution in their report to the police.
However, an investigator noted that an autopsy will determine the cause of death with the report a crucial part of the investigation.
