St Catherine South police arrest abusive mother in viral video
Since yesterday the 14-second video has been making the rounds on all social media platforms, prompting the police to launch an investigation.
In the video it showed a woman using her feet to stomp the girl in her neck and head, with the child at one point appeared to lose consciousness.
By this morning, however, investigators, acting on intelligence, were led to the community of Gregory Park, Portmore where the woman and child were found.
It was then confirmed that the woman is the mother of the child, Old Harbour News can also report.
In a brief statement this afternoon the Jamaica Constabulary Force stated: “Investigators from the Center for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA) have confirmed that the woman seen in a video abusing what appears to be a female child is now in police custody. She will now be interviewed, and the next steps will be determined.”
The child, who is 15 years old, has been placed in the custody of her father after receiving medical treatment at a facility, CISOCA added.
