Massive fire engulfs Jamaica Bedding factory
Firefighters are currently on the scene working to extinguish the blaze.
According to information reaching Old Harbour News the fire started moments ago about 7:50 pm.
In an update just now the fire has been fully extinguished Old Harbour News can report, as fire units from May Pen and Spanish Town collaborated with their Old Harbour colleagues.
The operation, it is understood, lasted roughly an hour before the situation was fully brought under control.
Whilst it is too early to ascertain the cause of the fire, estimated damage is likely to run in the millions as huge amounts of raw materials were destroyed in the process.
There are no reports of anyone being hurt.
The mattress and furniture company has been operating under the current name since 2001.
For clarity the disaster occurred at Jamaica Bedding’s storage facility at the South Street location which is shared with sister company OJ Koolers.
