Corporal Graham, again, used is vast experience to educate the public on best practices useful anywhere in the world.

1. How safe is it to take public transportation?

Ans: Always use licensed route taxi that you know or that is identifiable. It is smart to use public passenger vehicles that pick-up passengers at approved bus/taxi parks. Avoid cars that are cruising around looking for passengers - these cars could be potentially very dangerous.

2. How safe is it to travel alone?

Ans: When traveling alone in a taxi (1 driver, 1 passenger) it is best to sit at the back of the car. Be very observant. If you start feeling uncomfortable, immediately text or WhatsApp a family member or friend.  Inform the family friend of your location, your concerns and give clear description of the driver (colour clothing, complexion, estimated height etc). Keep your windows down. Use none confrontational complains to get driver to comply if you need window to roll down or for him to stop eg: "I'm having the flu so I can't be in the AC", or "urgent! I need to use the bathroom".

3. What can I expect when driving during the festive season?

Ans: During the festive season, try to avoid the rush, avoid drinking alcohol, and avoid speeding. It's also very smart to avoid road rage. Plan your route ahead of time to avoid congestion. Ensure you have sufficient fuel. Know alternative routes.

4. What should I consider when parking my vehicle?

Ans: Park facing out. Properly lock your vehicle. Be sure not to forget your children, elderly or animals in the vehicle. Park in well lit areas. Turn on safety features such as alarm and kill switch. Don't leave your valuables and cash unattended in your vehicle.

5. How can I improve my safety when I'm on foot?

Ans: Avoid isolation,  danger spots and dark alleys. Walk in the middle of the pavement if the street is deserted. Where possibly wait for a friend and walk together. Avoid earphone, earplug and iPod when walking. If you think you are being followed, trust your instincts and take immediate action.  Cross the road, turn and see who is behind you. If you are still being followed,  keep moving. Move quickly to a busy area and tell people what is happening.  If necessary call the police.
