PNP candidate promises to ‘donate 100%’ of salary to schools if elected Old Harbour North councillor

In a public post on his Facebook timeline, Jackson said: “Today I reflected on my journey from childhood to present. I am grateful for those who impacted on my life and the direction I was steered. Even though I have been “steering” thousands of young people I still want to do more.

“As the next elected councilor of the Old Harbour North Division, I will donate 100% of my salaries to my former primary school, Bartons Primary School for the first year. The second year, all salaries to Planters Hall Primary. The third year, all salaries to Good Hope Primary School and finally the fourth year salaries to Davis Primary School.

“I believe in service above self and the narrative of politicians have (sic) to change for our country to change as well.

“This is just the beginning for me giving back more to my communities. I haven’t forgotten Bios Content Primary. Let us work together for real development and the progress of our children.”

Jackson, a businessman and current guidance councillor at Old Harbour High School, received several commendations for the intentions proclaimed. However, others viewed the post with much skepticism with local government and parliamentary elections constitutionally due in 2020 and 2021 respectively.

Speaking to Old Harbour News in response to his statement, Jackson – a father of three – noted that it would be the salary as a councillor that he’ll be donating. He further explained that he is still entitled to full pay from his full-time job as a guidance councillor, while serving as the elected divisional councillor in local government.
