Brown’s Hall native to co-finance $25m health centre

The health centre, which broke ground last week, will offer free optical and dental services, mammograms and antenatal care, home visits from a midwife, family planning and counselling sessions.

Tulloch, who is also the managing director and chairman of his company, has also committed to provide a facelift to the nearby post office and basic school.

“We will work together to do things that will uplift the community. This is my community. It has laid the foundation for who I am today,” said Tulloch, a past student of the Brown’s Hall Primary School.

More than 4,000 residents will benefit from the new healthcare facility, stated Marlene Stephenson, senior public health nurse at the Southern Regional Health Authority (SRHA), which should ease the burden on other similar facilities in nearby communities.

Principal of the Brown’s Hall Primary School, Barrington Mighton, told JIS News that the project is a “big one for Brown’s Hall”, and the school welcomes the opportunity to “have trained medical personnel to serve us”.

For his part, sales and marketing manager at Omni Industries Limited, Vincent Clarke, described the project as a “shining example in the neighbourhood”.

Others involved in the project include Omni Industries Limited, which is also providing money; the National Health Fund (NHF), which did the design; and the Ministry of Health.

Brown’s Hall is located in the St Catherine West Central constituency held by Health Minister Dr. Christopher Tufton.
