Eight year-old Old Harbour boy dead, mother battling for life
Details are very sketchy at the moment as the incident took place inside the Marlin Way home about 5:45 am occupied by the woman, her boyfriend and son.
Dead is Aaron Masters, a student of Davis Primary, while his 25-year-old mother Toni-Ann Campbell is hospitalized in intensive care unit (ICU) as a result of life-threatening stab wounds allegedly inflicted by her boyfriend.
One investigator informed Old Harbour News that neighbours were alerted by screaming cries for help from a running Campbell who was bleeding profusely. The police were summoned immediately and upon arrival the lifeless body of little Aaron was seen in the house, while Campbell’s boyfriend - whose identity is being withheld by the police – was taken into custody.
The incident has shaken the community, as neighbours saw no early warning signs whatsoever of any underlining issues between the couple. It is understood that the two have been involved in a common-law relationship for more than year at the home owned by the suspect’s mother who is overseas.
The suspect, it is said, is generally quiet and of good behaviour, which has led many theorizing he might be experiencing mental issues unnoticed to them.
