Four shot, two fatally in Old Harbour town shooting

Neither the gunman nor the other deceased male have been indentified at this time, an investigator told Old Harbour News, while a pistol was recovered.

The injured, both males, are in hospital nursing gunshot wounds. The seriousness of their condition is not known either.

Investigators are still unclear about the circumstances behind the shooting, which took place about 5:30 pm in front of a fish and meat establishment along East Street.

It is understood that the gunman open fire into the crowded area, sending shoppers scampering during the usually busy Saturday evening.

An armed off-duty police officer, who was present at the time, challenged the gunman, killing him in the process.

One of the injured men was later pronounced dead at hospital.
