National athlete Gleneve Grange (right) shared this photo with dad Gladstone Grange, who was among four persons shot and killed by armed men in Dover district last night
“Where can I start… My dad… Can’t be… I want him back… No, no, no… Sleep in peace my king… My first love,” wrote the 24-year-old on her Facebook timeline in memory of her beloved father, 67-year-old Gladstone ‘Bigga’ Grange of a Spring Garden address.
Reports are that at about 10:00 pm Mr Grange was among a group of men playing dominoes at a bar in Dover district, a small farming community in St Catherine West Central, when a group of armed men rode up on motorbikes and open fire.
The gunmen then went to another location nearby and fired shots, hitting several persons.
Eight persons were shot when the shooting rampage ended, while Mr Grange was among those who died at the scene. The injured are all hospitalized. Their condition is unknown.
Also among the dead are 46-year-old Dennis ‘Ninja’ Pryce, a labourer of Dover district; 38-year-old Marcus ‘Beba’ White, a haulage contractor of Cherry district and 49-year-old bartender Patricia King.
The gunmen escaped.
The police have since launched a high level probe into the deadly incident which has left the usually quiet community in shock and disbelief.
