Internet technician ‘Ricky’ gunned down in Red Ground

Well known Old Harbour resident Ricardo ‘Ricky’ Thomas was last night gunned down in the Red Ground district, northern Old Harbour.

According to the police about 7:30 pm, Thomas,40, was sitting in his Toyota RAV4 vehicle when he was attacked by armed thugs who shot him several times.

Thomas, who is of an Old Harbour Glades address but originally from north Old Harbour, tried to escape before receiving assistance from residents.

He was rushed to the Spanish Town Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The internet technician's gruesome death has rocked the community.

Among those commenting on his death is childhood friend Adrian Samuda, who is the president of the Old Harbour Chamber of Commerce.

Writing on his personal facebook page Samuda said the time has come for the government to implement more proactive measures that could save a lives

“It’s now time that every police station in Jamaica is assigned an ambulance with paramedics,” he proffered. “The fact is a police cannot save a life by putting an injured person inside a van back. Many lives could be saved if an ambulance arrives on a crime or accident scene with police.”

Scene of crime detectives have recovered three 9mm spent casings while combing the area.
