Old Harbour girls hospitalized after being chopped by alleged child molester
The man, who the police will only say is of a Panton Lane, Old Harbour address, is now a prime suspect after he allegedly used a machete to inflict serious wounds to the two girls, one of whom had one of her fingers completely severed.
Police information so far is that on Tuesday about 9:30 pm in the community of Panton Lane, off East Street, Old Harbour the accused was allegedly sexually molesting the older sibling when he was caught by the younger sister who swore to tell her father.
The man, who it is understood has been a good neighbor over the years up until that point then, used a machete to chop the girls before fleeing the community.
It is further understood that at the time of the incident the girls were left at home while their stepfather had just gone to meet the children’s mother – for security reasons – who was walking home along a dark dirt track.
When the parents reached home the children were quickly transported to the hospital where they remain in the intensive care unit.
Back at Panton Lane residents reportedly attacked and set ablaze a one bedroom semi-board dwelling belonging to the sister of the suspect after she failed to provide any meaningful answers regarding his whereabouts.
The house and all its contents were totally destroyed. Fortunately the accused man’s sister was not physically hurt by the raging mob, as she was rescued in the nick of time by a squad of soldiers on patrol in the area.
