Old Harbour records second house fire in 48 hours

Old Harbour has recorded a second major house fire within 48 hours. On Christmas morning a three-bedroom board house in Red Ground burned to the ground, leaving a family of six homeless.

Today, Oniel Graham of Gordon Wood, Church Pen, is now without a home after fire razed his one-bedroom dwelling sometime around 10 o’clock this morning.

Graham, who lives alone, was at work when he received the dreaded call that his house is one fire, the police reported.

All contents inside the house were completely destroyed. Structurally the house is of made of board and concrete and consists of other amenities such as a kitchen, living room and a bathroom.

After speaking with Graham, the police have estimated the value of the damage to be about $3 million dollars. However, the cause of the fire is unknown pending further investigation.

Firefighters from the Old Harbour Fire Station carried out cooling down operations.
