Old Harbour taxi driver slapped with gun charge

An Old Harbour taxi driver remains in police custody after he was held with an illegal gun in the Old Harbour Glades community on June 24.

Charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition is Roshawn Cooke, a 25-year-old taxi operator of Herring Lane, Church Pen.

Cooke, also called ‘Cheng’, was in the company of three other men on Himalayas Avenue when they were accosted by cops during a snap raid about 7:25 am, the police said.

A Toyota Probox, belonging to Cooke was searched during which a black Armscor 200 revolver with two rounds was retrieved.

All four men were taken into custody following which Cooke was charged and the others released.

Cooke is scheduled to appear before the St Catherine Parish Court to answer to the charges.
