PHOTO: Clarendon gangster killed in Old Harbour
The dead man has been identified as 35-year-old labourer Collin Haughton otherwise called ‘Lava’ of a May Pen address.
Haughton, the police have reported, was in a bar at Cottage Complex on West Street, Old Harbour when a man approached him with handgun and shot him multiple times in the head and upper body.
He died on the spot.
There is still no clear motive behind Haughton’s murder but investigations so far theorises that he was aligned to the gang and frequents the Bailey’s Avenue and Bucknor communities.
Given the life that Haughton lived one of the theories is that he was killed by his enemies or possibly cronies but investigators are assessing all evidentiary material in front of them before forming any conclusion, Old Harbour News was told.
What is clear so far to detectives is that Haughton was the obvious target in this hit as no-one else was hurt during the attack, while scene of crime detectives collected five 9mm spent shells and one live bullet round among other evidence during the processing.
Now a fragmented group, the Ranko gang has been linked to several crimes committed throughout the parish of Clarendon.
However, several of its members are either dead or serving lengthy sentences in incarceration, as the police continue to make in-roads to dismantle this syndicated criminal enterprise.
