The PNP is a vessel of confusion, misinformation and desperation
This especially after the JLP government’s expert handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. The People’s National Party (PNP) has allowed itself to once again be the vehicle of political desperation and misinformation.
The PNP Opposition led by their President Mark Golding has sought to use an unfortunate situation and the pain caused to advance a sick and narrow political ploy by calling for the resignation of the Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr. the Hon. Christopher Tufton.
Any comparisons by the PNP to the abhorrent actions of former Minister of Health Dr. Fenton Ferguson is ill-fated and must be summarily dismissed.
There are no similarities between Dr. Ferguson’s wanton disregard for the lives of the unborn children and the swiftly successful response of Minister Tufton to reduce the number of deaths resulting from a similar outbreak.
To baselessly argue that the Minister must resign solely to soothe the bruised political ego of the PNP is absurd. Accountability must not be traded in for political scorekeeping.
The PNP’s willingness to use half-truths and hearsay to malign and seek political mileage is well documented.
Several among their ranks who are calling for Dr. Tufton’s resignation have little to no moral authority to speak on political platforms, much less demand the sacking of one of our nation’s prevailing, high ranking and hardworking government Ministers.
Young Jamaica calls on all well thinking people to stay focused on the facts and not the falsehoods of the PNP and their allies in the traditional and social media spaces.
