A man was killed in what investigators believed to be a hit and run along West Street in the vicinity of Rhoden Pen, Old Harbour.

Yesterday about 9:00 am, a passerby saw a body of a male lying in bushes along the roadside and called the police to the scene.

The deceased has been identified as Hakeem James, 29, of the Aviary Housing Scheme and an employee at Seprod Jamaica Limited.

Police from the Old Harbour traffic unit are theorizing that James was walking along the roadway when he was hit by a Toyota motor car based on certain evidence observed at the scene.

Scores of persons quickly gathered at the spot before a crew from Morgan’s Funeral Home came and removed the body.

After talking to family members of James, the police say he left home for work when he was hit during the break of dawn at a location where visibility is poor.

Solving this crime will prove difficult for investigators as there is no eyewitness or CCTV footage to rely on.

But the police remain hopeful that they can make a breakthrough for the family.
