Installation of operating theatre lights at out-patient department south theatre at the Kingston Public Hospital.

A programme to install of state-of-the-art operating theatre lights at hospitals within the South East Regional Health Authority (SERHA) has commenced.

The initiative was announced by Wentworth Charles, board chairman of SERHA following the installation of new operating lights for Theatre 3 at the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) recently.

With KPH being the largest trauma centre in the country’s public health system, Charles said every effort will be made to improve its overall service to carry out sophisticated surgeries.

“This recent acquisition is most timely and it is SERHA’s intention to continue to acquire and replace all other outstanding lighting system that need to be repaired at all other hospitals within the region,” he said.

The warranty and maintenance of the equipment will be keenly observed, in addition to the establishment of a replacement fund to care for the equipment. The operating theatre light for Theatre 4 has been procured and will be installed in the coming month.
