Student from Old Harbour traumatised after being mugged
The frightening incident occurred about midday on April 22 after the 19-year-old male boarded a taxi from the Marlie Mount bus stop.
The father of the young man, who spoke on condition that their identities are not revealed out of fear, said his son locked himself inside the house and feared going outside.
He said his son explained to him that after taking the grey Nissan white plate motor car which had the word taxi inscribe on it en route to Spanish Town, one of the men seated in the back pulled a knife and placed at his side. The criminal then demanded his mobile phone and money, which he complied, before he was ushered out of the vehicle in the Church Pen area.
The father told Old Harbour News that based on discussion with his son it is evident that the driver and the other man were working together in the execution of their criminal scheme.
“He said from he went into the vehicle both of them were talking to each other and based on the conversation, he said they must know each other,” said the father.
The teenager was on his way to meet up with fellow schoolmates in Spanish Town for a group project they have been working on. Although he was not hurt physically, the Old Harbour dad said his son is mentally disturbed by the whole experience, so much so, he hasn’t left the house since and is yet to make a formal report to the police.
“It very serious,” he said. “Him traumatise right now. I don’t want to disturb him.”
The father added that this was the second time his son has been robbed after he was held up at gunpoint in New Kingston last year during an internship at a major corporate bank.
