Suspects linked to murder of ‘Broilers’ worker in custody
Both were picked up within 24 hours after the body of Griffiths, 67, was found in bushes in Dover, St Catherine, approximately five kilometers from his home in Kitson Town.
Griffiths’ body was discovered on November 23 by family members who went searching for him after he left home Sunday morning for work at the Jamaica Broilers plant in Spring Village but did not return home.
Griffiths – popularly known as ‘Old Timer’ – was ambushed and killed by criminals for quite possibly his motorcycle, investigators have theorized.
He met an awful death, as his head was almost removed from his torso, while his face was apparently being eaten by dogs, scene-of-crime detectives believed.
Quick action, however, by investigators led them to a premises in Spring Village where two men, said to be in their early 20s, are being treated as suspects after one was found in possession of Griffiths’ motorbike and the other his mobile phone.
Other persons were also picked up during the raid, but have been released subsequently.
The two suspects, whose identities are being withheld pending the outcome of the probe, are to be questioned in the presence of an attorney at a later date.
The killing of Griffiths has left the community of Kitson Town and coworkers in shock and disbelief.
The senior citizen has been described as a very loving person and a dedicated father.
