He is 24-year-old labourer Jermaine Gordon of Redwood Avenue, Nightingale Grove, St Catherine.

Gordon’s partners Derrick Wright, a 24-year-old labourer of Sandy Park, Kingston 6 and the other only known as Gunther have also been jointly charged for breaching the curfew order under the Disaster Risk Management Act (DRMA).

According to the police, about 11:30 pm a team of officers, on patrol on Sugar Way, Island Farm, signaled the driver of a silver Toyota Mark X motor car to stop. Upon being ordered to stop the driver of the Mark X quickly hitched a reverse. The police pursued the vehicle and had to use tactical maneuvers to force the driver to stop.

Three men including the driver emerged from the vehicle following which a search was carried out. During the search of one of the men, the police discovered a browning 9mm pistol containing one magazine with nine rounds. The serial number of the gun was erased.

They were taken into custody where they were subsequently question and charged.

The police have seized the vehicle pending the outcome of the investigation.

A court date for all three men is being finalized.
