Usain Bolt, ‘Bibi’ Gardner drop musical jingles
Produced on the Olympe Rose’ Riddim and the now trending Clock Work Riddim the tracks are set to have football fans and music lovers rocking and should give the league a boost.
Gardner, who is also the current coach for Portmore United FC, is no stranger to the music world. The 1998 World Cup player has been working in the studios with Usain Bolt and his team for a few years now. The Olympe Rose’ riddim was first released in 2019 and featured multiple Jamaican artists including former Bolton Wanderers FC player.
In January 2021 the world’s fastest man released his latest compilation on the Clock Work Riddim, which has received great reviews locally and internationally and features the likes of dancehall royalty ‘Baby Cham’.
The Jamaica Premier league is set to commenced this weekend, starting Saturday June 26th after the COVID-19 pandemic brought football to a virtual standstill in Jamaica for over a year. The league will begin with 11 clubs facing off in a compressed format that will end in September.
The league does come with some restrictions including no fans in the stadium; however, the matches will be televised on cable TV Sportsmax and free-to-air local channel CVM TV.
In a joint statement Usain Bolt and Gardner noted that “producing and recording this jingle was an easy decision for us”.
We love sports, we love football and we love music and we wanted to give the fans something to get excited about,” the duo and close friends stated. “Football is an emotional experience and we want the fans to still feel the energy even if they are not in the stands.”
Professional Football Jamaica League Chairman Chris Williams said he was pleased that Bolt was able to lend his support to the league.
“Usain Bolt is not just a track star but he is a global brand and his support of the league will certainly assist us in our effort to expand the impact of Jamaican football and the importance of the Jamaica Premier League,” he said.
The clubs will play their first matches this weekend inside the Captain Horace Burrell Centre of Excellence.
