Vaz Prep’s former Quiz captain Grace-Ann Bailey’s hard work pays off
An independent learner, Bailey approached her Primary Exit Profile (PEP) examinations with zeal and at each stage was outstanding in her results.
“Whenever she gets involved in anything, she gives it her all. She did most of the work on her own, and even with her homework I didn’t have to tell her to do anything, “said her mother, Paulette Bailey.
Based on her successful PEP results, in which she scored 340 out of a possible 350 or 97%, Bailey will be attending the Immaculate Conception High School in September. She thanked her parents and teachers who she said were very supportive during her preparation process.
“I feel that my hard work has paid off, and I am grateful to God, and all the persons that helped me to be successful,” Grace-Ann told Old Harbour News.
The former captain of the Vaz Preparatory’s Junior School’s Challenge Quiz team, said she prepared for her topics in class and prioritized her homework activities.
“I practiced and the concepts were cemented in my brain, and this gave me the added drive and impetuous to recall everything in my examinations,” added the well-spoken ‘little scholar’.
Bailey started Vaz in grade five and is a past student of the Jessie Ripoll Primary School. She received certificates for the highest PEP scores in grade five and six as well as copping awards in mathematics, social studies, science, language arts and ability test. She also received an award for the overall top student. An avid lover of the arts, Bailey also received awards in the arts.
Her mother indicated that Grace-Ann did not participate in extra lessons until the latter part of grade six.
“She understood the concepts and forgot no assignment. All her work is done on time and is done properly. She puts a lot of pride into her work and assignments,” Mrs Bailey said.
“I am very excited and pleased that the hard work she has put in has paid off and that she is proud of her achievements,” the proud mother added.
Grace-Ann is desirous of becoming a medical doctor or pursue a career in the performing arts.
