He has been identified as Omar Reid of Ascot Drive, Old Harbour.

Information from the police is that Reid, who operates a cooking gas delivery business, was attacked and killed by gunmen after receiving an order for a particular address in The Aviary which is situated approximately 200 metres west of the town centre.

The incident occurred about 8:40 pm.

Upon reaching the location Reid exited the vehicle to make enquires after getting no response from the house of the customer.

At this point he was accosted by two gunmen who approached him on foot. The armed men, the police reported, engaged Reid in conversation before shooting him multiple times.

He was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead at 9:10 pm while undergoing treatment.

Detectives from the police force’s scene of crime unit has since removed three spent casings and a single live round along with blood samples from the crime scene to commence the process of an investigation into the murder.

A motive is yet to be established.

Meantime Obryan Leighton, who knew Reid from their youth days playing football at Old Harbour High, says the community is trying to make sense of the shocking news and come to terms with the reality of situation.

“Honestly I am just shock out of my wits this morning. I don’t know what to say. Mi just wish the man dem jus change up them lifestyle and understand that too much families a get hurt… and because of these things it a go jus continue, continue… because everybody ago want seek reprisal or revenge for the death of families. These are just senseless killings. Senseless, senseless, senseless. The whole football fraternity in Old Harbour is just messed up right now,” said Leighton who is the People’s National Party (PNP) councillor candidate for the St Catherine South Western Old Harbour Central Division.

Reid is believed to be the eldest child of popular Old Harbour taxi driver Wayne ‘Mackie Dread’ Reid. After a promising youth career in football, Reid shifted his talent to music under the moniker ‘Marr’ with his 2018 released Ghetto Life being one of his most popular songs.
