(L-R): Mayor Norman Scott, PNP VP; Obryan Leighton, PNP caretaker, Old Harbour Central; Dr Kurt Waul, councillor, Old Harbour South; Mark Golding, PNP President; Adrian Samuda, PNP caretaker, Old Harbour North.

Recent wins for the People’s National Party (PNP) in two parochial by-elections is indicative of the party’s readiness to take control of state power whenever the next general election is called.

Delroy Dawson and Rosemarie Shaw both secured wins for the PNP in the Aenon Town and Morant Bay divisions, but the opposition party did not contest parliamentary by-elections for the constituencies of St Andrew North Western and Trelawny Southern.

The next general election is constitutionally due September 2025.

President of the PNP Mark Golding, while addressing Comrades at a fundraiser reception for its St Catherine South Western candidate Dr Kurt Waul at Kaluga Kafe, says all indicators are showing that majority of voting electorate are calling for a change.
