Old Harbour gangster ‘Dutty Shut’ killed
According to the police about 3:00 pm Blake, 46, was on a bicycle in the lane when men alighted from a car and shot him several times before speeding off. He died on the spot.
His death however is likely to be celebrated particularly by those who would have suffered at his hand.
Commanding officer in charge of the Old Harbour sub-division DSP Damion Manderson said “Blake is a well-known gangster in the Old Harbour area and would have been a constant target of police operations”.
A known recidivist for more than 20 years linked to the criminal underworld, Blake who is of a Love Lane, Marlie Acres address, served time in prison “for many major and acquisition crimes” including murder, illegal possession of firearm, fraud among others, the police disclosed.
“He is responsible for many crimes inside and outside of Old Harbour,” Manderson said.
Despite his criminal lifestyle, investigators are appealing to the public to provide any useful information that could help them solve the case. A team from the police scene of crime unit were observed processing an area of the narrow lane which was cordon off at the entrance. Ten spent casings were recovered at the scene.
Persons can contact DSP Manderson at 876-832-9082.
