DAILY DEVOTION: Fresh start - New Year's resolutions (NYR)

  • Jan 06, 2021 10:53 AM | Religion

Some people are quick to say that they don't make New Year's resolutions. They argue that these often lead to frustration and self-esteem damage when they go unkept.

"If you don't make em, you can't break em," we say. However, I want to offer another saying "If you aim at nothing, you'll hit it every time." I am not one for setting people up to break promises, but even more so I am not into people living aimlessly - I think this is worse. Therefore, we should assess our resources against our obstacles and if our resources are greater then go for it. If your obstacles are greater, you might want to reconsider.  If your personal discipline is on the side of the obstacles then you have a major problem and maybe your project should just be to improve your discipline. If you have "the command and promised help from God" on the side of your resources, then some mountains can be cast into some seas this year (Matt.17:21). It is a marvellous feeling to know that you are taking on a project bigger than you, but you are confident of the help of God. So if you know that these NYR are in the will of God, then know that He will send the backing of heaven to help you get it done. Put your faith in God and go for it, in the name of the Lord!

Phil 4:13: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
