God promised old Abraham a son and he fell on his face, I suppose, to worship God, but while down there, sure enough, he laughed (Gen.17:17). God visited Abraham's tent in human form and told him that in one year's time, Sarah will have a son, she also laughed (Gen. 18:13). Then the child was born and the rest of their lives they all laughed (especially God). You see the child was named Isaac - which means "laughter". Now that's funny! Praise be to God that in His mercy, He didn't cancel their program and called another more faithful, non-giggling couple to work through. He just graciously took the joke to a happy-for-all level.
For them it might be laughter, but for us, we might show our doubt in different ways. Praise God that He is bigger than our weaknesses and still bless us beyond our faith. I want to learn to love like God does and stop letting the shortcomings of people cause me to get all flustered and lose focus on my original purpose. I want to laugh with those who laugh and cry with those who cry. That's what the Father did. That's what Jesus did. That's what I ought to do. That's what I'm going to do, with God's help and in Jesus' name. Amen!
