NWC disconnection drive targets Old Harbour community

In addition the utility company listed Lime Tree Grove and the Greater Portmore residences of 8 West and 1 North as communities targeted under a scheduled disconnection drive from March 22-26 for delinquent customers.

Elsewhere in Portmore, customers in deep arrears living in Edgewater, Bridgeport, West Bay, Bridgeview, West Port and Garveymeade have been listed for disconnection. So too are those customers residing in northern St Catherine such as Jericho, Vanity Gardens, Knollis, Rosemount, Sunnyside, Newland Heights, Deeside, Roywood Estate and New Woks.

During the same period the state-run water company has also advised that the Clarendon communities of Ashley Hall and Water Lane have been included on this week’s list of massive disconnection exercise.

And similar exercise will be conducted in both commercial and residential areas of the corporate area, namely Waltham Park, Richmond Park, Hagley Park and Maxfield Park.
“Customers in arrears are being asked to pay their balances so that the entity can carry out necessary projects that will improve water supply and sewerage services,” the NWC stated.

The NWC said it is owed in excess of J$4 billion by customers.

Since announcing its disconnection initiative on December 1, 2020, the NWC has reported more than 6,800 suspensions in service, while collecting approximately J$250 million so far under the programme.
