Fish vendor shot dead at Old Harbour Bay
The police have confirmed the incident but unable to provide more details as the facts were still being established.
Based on information gleaned from several sources, the deceased at the time, was approached by a man who pulled a firearm and shot her in the head.
She died on the spot.
Many persons took cover as the incident unfolded sometime after 1:00 pm, while the shooter escaped across the salt plain in the area.
Patsy, Old Harbour News has learnt, is a resident of Free Town, Clarendon, who has been selling at the fishing village for several years. She buried her brother in December of last year after he was called outside of his house and shot multiple times by gunmen.
In an update, the police have confirmed the official identity of the deceased to be 51-year-old Patsy Coleman, a resident of Rasta Corner, Free Town.
Investigators also corroborated our initial report that she was attacked by a lone gunman, adding that she was shot in the head and upper torso.
They also theorized that the shooter, who was chased by men on the fishing beach, isn’t from Old Harbour Bay. The shooter staved off the chasing men by firing shots wildly before making good his escape on foot.
Detectives are yet to establish if there’s a connection between the daring daylight killing of Coleman and her brother Winston Dawkins, 37, who was gunned down at home at Rasta Corner on December 5, 2021.
