Detectives at the Old Harbour Police CIB are working to establish a motive behind Tuesday night’s murder of Anthony Blake of Hart Street, Old Harbour.

Blake was chased and shot multiple times by his attacker, who escaped on foot.

According to the police, about 8:20 pm the Hart Street resident was walking in the community when a man armed with a gun approached him.

Blake collapsed in the vicinity of a church after being chased and then shot by the shooter.

He was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

This is the second murder in a month to occur on Hart Street, popularly known as John Crow Lane by locals. On April 17 about 9:25 pm 29-year-old Delgrado Cole died in the community after being chased and shot several times.

The police say they are still working to resolve the circumstances that caused Cole’s death.

One investigator informed Old Harbour News that the team at the CIB unit is trying to determine if both homicides are connected. But so far the evidence doesn’t support such a theory.

Blake, who is a landscaper, was killed 12 days before his 33rd birthday.
