One dead, two wounded in Smith Ave shooting

Dead is 25-year-old labourer Shane McKenzie, otherwise called ‘Pinky’ while two other men – both in their twenties – are hospitalized in stable conditions nursing gunshot wounds.

Information from the police is that about 9:30 pm all three men who reside in the community were sitting in front of a shop when they were attacked.

It is unclear however, how many persons carried out the gun attack in which McKenzie was hit multiple times in the upper body. He died on the spot.

Police arrived quickly at the scene of the crime and recovered 14 spent casings and a magazine containing 10 9mm live rounds while processing the area.

This is the fifth murder recorded in the Old Harbour police zone since the start of the year.
