With the Christmas season upon us, the Old Harbour police have announced the expansion of the town’s vending zone.

The decree is in keeping with tradition this time of the year as more vendors and shoppers will descend in the town centre leading up to the holidays.

Head of operations at the Old Harbour Police Inspector Randy Grant says vending approval has been authorized along Vaz Drive and Market Street from December 8, 2023 to January 6, 2024.

“We will have an increased police presence in the town to assist with traffic management and deter persons with criminal intent who want to take advantage of the increased commercial activity,” the senior cop told Old Harbour News.

On the first day since the imposition of the temporary vending rule, vendors were observed constructing makeshift stalls.

They are all hoping to capitalise on the highly anticipated buzz in commercial activities in an economy imperiled by high inflation.

In the meantime, the police are advising members of the public to adopt safe practices and be very vigilant while conducting business and traversing public places throughout this Yuletide season.
