The Old Harbour police have commenced a probe into the murder of a man on New Year’s Eve.
Dead is Sheldon Chambers, a 36-year-old construction tradesman.
Chambers was at his Hart Street home when he was shot dead by presumably a lone gunman.
According to the preliminary police report, about 7:30 pm Chambers went to attend to a customer inside the board shop that the family operates.
Loud explosions similar to gunshots were then heard, following which Chambers was found dead inside the shop.
The area was then processed by the police’s scene of crime unit from which several pieces of evidentiary material were collected for testing.
Detectives are yet to establish any real motive for the killing.
However, Old Harbour News understands that since the murder of Chambers, his grandfather has been struggling to cope, as the now deceased had taken personal responsibility to care for him.
Investigators are urging anyone with information regarding Chamber’s death to contact the Old Harbour CIB.
