The Sunbeam Children’s Home has scored a minor victory in the court after a judge granted them a stay removal in a case brought by the Child Protection and Family Services Agency (CPFSA).

The CPFSA, an agency of the state, last week served the all-boys private care home with a notice to de-license on allegations of rampant abuse.

Such allegations have been refuted by the 48-year-old institution.

In the meantime, the CPFSA is also seeking to remove all the wards at Sunbeam and relocate them at a similar facility.

Speaking to Old Harbour News, Randy Finnikin, who is chairman of the Sunbeam Children’s Home, explained what transpired in the St Catherine Parish Court in Spanish Town where both parties with their legal representatives appeared last Friday.
